About this pattern
Barron is a little bat inspired by all things spooky. He has a round head, a soft body with two bobble arms, pointy ears and wide wings with picot points.
The head and body are worked in one piece in continuous rounds. Each wing starts as a flat circle that you fold in half, then edge with taller stitches to make the points. The size of your bat depends on your choice of yarn and hook.

The pattern
Head & Body
Stuff firmly as you go once the eyes are secured. Be careful not to overstuff the head.
Info: Place the safety eyes between Rnds 6 and 7, approx. 2–3 visible stitches apart. The eyes should be on the same side where the bobbles will later be placed.
Info: You may need to adjust the bobbles in Rnd 18 according to your tension, to align them with the eyes.
Info: Fasten off and weave your tail through the front loops of the remaining stitches. Pull tight to close and secure the tail.
Wings (make 2)
Do not stuff. See the important notes for the special stitches.
Info: Now you will be working along the stitches you just placed.
Info: You will end at the top of the wing. Fasten off and tuck your tail in. Attach a new long tail at the bottom of the wing, where you placed your ch 1.
Ears (make 2)
Do not stuff.
Info: Ch 1, sc 4 across to close. Fasten off and leave a tail for sewing.
Assembly
- 1
Using a darning needle, sew each ear to the top of the head starting at Rnd 2–3 of the head, approximately 3–4 rounds above the eyes. The ears should be about 4–6 stitches apart. You may adjust the angle of the ears to your liking.
- 2
Attach each wing to the back of the body, starting from the bottom of the wing and working your way up the body. Fasten off about halfway up the wing. This may change depending on the angle you choose for your bat.
- 3
You can play with the angle of the wings for different looks; the designer prefers to sew them vertically to the body. Additional sewing may be needed to secure the wings.
